In the AAA and AA development landscape of 2026, the traditional model of shipping a self-contained, 15-hour narrative game has been heavily overshadowed by Games as a Service (GaaS). Persistent multiplayer titles, extraction shooters, and live-service RPGs represent the most lucrative, yet technically demanding, sector of the industry.
