Best Movie at Festival del Globo Mexico (2018)
Cineteca Nacional Manuel Barbachano Ponce Exhibition – The film received its primary public debut as a curated collective showcase at the prestigious Manuel Barbachano Ponce theater inside the Teatro Armando Manzanero in Yucatán.
Mérida Municipal Cultural Forum Showcase – Selected and screened at official cultural initiatives designed by civil society to promote transforming the abandoned sector into a "cultural forest" (bosque cultural).
OPIA Vacío Urbano (2018), an experimental short film directed by fine art photographer Jason Buff, earned specific cultural recognition within Mexico's independent art and municipal film circuits.
The film was created as part of "Vacío Urbano" (Urban Void), a unique local omnibus film initiative funded by Mérida's Municipal Fund for Culture and the Arts (Fondo Municipal para la Cultura y las Artes). The project tasked ten regional filmmakers with creating distinct narrative imaginaries centered around "La Plancha," a deteriorating, 30-year-abandoned former railway station zone in Mérida, Yucatán.
